The Art Show is Almost Here!

I apologize for my lack of posts in the past few weeks.  I have been super busy preparing work for the upcoming Art Show.  Parents, please plan on attending the Open House on April 14 from 6-7 p.m.  The Art Show will be up for viewing then, and your student can show you his/her work.  If you can't attend the Open House, the Art Show will be up April 11-15.  You can stop in anytime that week before 3:15 p.m. to see the work.

I realized that I never posted pictures of the completed bottle cap sculptures that the 3rd graders made.  They are finished and on the display in the library. (A huge thanks to our custodians for hanging them!) The students are very excited to see their artwork everytime they pass the library.  They added much needed cheer to the empty walls.

4th Grade Terra Cotta Warriors
The 3rd and 4th graders have been learning about the Terra Cotta Warriors of Emperor Qin's tomb. What are the Terra Cotta Warriors?  They are clay figures that were made for Emperor Qin’s tomb because he believed the warriors would protect him.  Thousands of warriors were created for his tomb.  They are life-sized and no two are alike.  Qin was the first emperor to rule China in 221 B.C. (That’s over 2,000 years ago!)  Emperor Qin also had workers build the Great Wall of China.  We have been making drawings of the figures and creating clay sculptures too.
