Nesting Dolls and More

The third graders have finished their matryoshka or nesting dolls.  They worked in groups to create a complete set of characters which are found in a fairy tale or story.  They painted the nesting dolls and wrote descriptions about each piece.  Some of the stories they used for inspiration included Jack and the Beanstalk, The House That Jack Built, Mouse Paint, Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Bears, Rapunzel, and Snow White.

  The fifth graders have artwork on display in the hallway from a unit we did on realistic, objective, and non-objective artwork.  They learned about characteristics from each style and then created a triptych (or 3 part artwork) depicting each of the three styles.  Here are some pictures of the hallway display:
