Birds and Giraffes

The art show is over, but the art room is still busy with activity.  The 1st and 2nd graders have been making animal art.  The past couple of weeks we've focused on making birds.  We learned about John James Audobon.  We've made bird sculptures and realistic bird drawings from observation.  We even made some peacocks and read the story Just Plain Fancy by Patricia Pollaco.  Additionally, the first graders are working on some crazy dancing giraffe collages.  (Some of these lesson ideas were adapted from http://www.deepspacesparkle.blogspot.com/)  Check out our drawings and paintings below:
